Yarding: 594

There was a yarding of generally good quality cattle offered by agents.

All of the usual buyers were in attendance and bidding was solid as values remained on a par with last week’s sale.

Export cattle were in demand and local as well as interstate processors bid strongly to secure numbers.

Heavyweight bulls were scarce and sold from 200c to 217c/kg, lightweights sold to similar demand and returned 190c to 227c.

Cow numbers were similar to last week and heavyweight beef breed cows remained firm, they sold from 197c to 230c, lightweights sold from 130 to 189c and dairy bred cows returned vendors up to 219/kg.

Heavyweight steers and bullocks were scarce and export demand was strong, prices lifted and they sold from 235 to 307c. Grown heifers remained firm at best and sold from 211 to 253c.

Few vealers were yarded, trade buyers were very keen to secure any prime lots, bidding was brisk, prices were firm on strong recent sales and vendors were rewarded with prices from 285 to 311c for steers and 264 to 305c for heifers.

Prime yearlings were more plentiful, trade and processor buyers were keen to source these and prices lifted. Steers sold from 255 to 315c and heifers returned 230 to 287c.

A good run of, generally well bred, store condition, lightweight cattle sold to steady bidding from feeders and restockers at prices on a par with recent sales. Two major processors were the major buyers, they sourced cattle to go in to feed lots and there was some local restocker interest on lightweight cattle to feed on in the paddock.

Steers to feeders and restockers sold from 241c to 311c/kg and the equivalent heifers returned 180 to 265c/kg lwt.
